VISITING ELECTRONIC STUDENT AUTHORIZATION
NOTICE CONCERNING CHANGES TO YOUR VESA APPLICATION
Effective October 24, 2005, adjustments to previously submitted VESA applications will no longer be processed on the VESA application. Students needing to make an adjustment in their course schedule must send a request via an e-mail message to VESA@sreb.org. The email MUST include:
- your full name
- student or social security number
- the course and institution offering the course you wish to drop
- the course and institution in which you wish to enroll.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU CAN ONLY ADD A COURSE THAT IS STILL AVAILABLE IN THE SLOAN SEMESTER COURSE CATALOG AND IF THE ENROLLMENT DATE HAS NOT PASSED.
VESA Information
VESA is an alternative admissions system that acts to establish you as a visiting, guest matriculant or transient student to facilitate enrollment in courses offered by providing institutions in Sloan Semester. Providing institutions have agreed to accept VESA as authorization to enroll in Sloan Semester courses at the institution.
Procedures for Completing VESA
- Establish an account (hosted by the Electronic Campus). Students who have previously established accounts on any Mentor™ site can use their existing ID and password. Establishing an account is free and allows all information to be saved and used for the VESA form.
- Complete the screens of demographic information to create your profile. This information will automatically populate the VESA application.
- When you are ready to complete the application, click on "Begin VESA Application." The VESA form will appear on screen and many of the fields will be auto-populated from the information you previously entered when creating your account. Review the form to make sure the information is correct and complete.
- On the Course Request screen, part of VESA, using the dropdown menu, enter the course or courses you wish to enroll in and the college or university offering the specific course. You may select up to four courses (12 credits) and courses may be from multiple institutions.
- Upon selection of courses, hit the "submit" button to automatically forward the VESA application. Upon completion and submission, a confirmation screen is generated; print the screen for your records. Please be sure to include at least one valid e-mail address.
After You've Submitted Your VESA Application
- Congratulations. You have completed the process. Your account will remain active on the site and you can visit it as needed.
- Upon receipt, your application will be reviewed for completeness and confirmation of your student eligibility, i.e. you are a student from an "impacted institution." Your course requests along with a copy of your VESA will be forwarded to the appropriate providing institutions. The institutions will contact you directly to finalize course registration and to finalize preparations to begin the course (e.g. issuing an account and passcodes to use course management systems, providing access to online library services, bookstore information, etc.)
Guidelines Governing the SREB VESA Program
- An SREB VESA does not indicate or connote admission to any providing institution and/or degree program. The SREB VESA provides the opportunity to register for courses for the Sloan Semester of Fall 2005.
- VESA students must meet all prerequisite course and/or eligibility requirements stipulated by the providing institution.
- Students may use the VESA only at providing institutions and for specific courses listed in the Sloan Semester catalog.
- Credits earned while enrolled via SREB VESA may be used to meet degree requirements. All institutions providing online courses for the Sloan Semester are regionally accredited, and a number of institutions closed due to Katrina have said that they will accept credits earned at a regionally accredited institution. Nevertheless, your home institution has final authority on the transfer, acceptance, and use of any credits earned.
