Application Evaluation
We hope that you will take time with the completion of your application and be as candid and complete as you possibly can in answering the questions provided. Maryville College admission is competitive. It is important that our admission committee be as informed as possible to make the appropriate decision. Your academic potential is most important, but your ability to contribute to the talent and diversity of our student body is also of interest to us. We encourage you to submit other information, such as letters of recommendation from teachers and guidance counselors, as well as examples of your creative work. Your ability to demonstrate your interest in Maryville College is also important to us.
Transcripts
Take the
Transcript Request Form to your guidance counselor to have an official high school transcript attached and sent to Maryville College. Please note that it is your responsibility to request mid-year grades, as soon as they are available, and have them sent to Maryville College. If you have taken courses for college credit, please request official transcripts from
each college or university attended.
Admission Tests
Maryville College requires the SAT I or ACT and will accept SAT I/ACT test scores recorded on your high school transcript. If you have not yet taken either test, submit your application for admission and have the scores sent to Maryville.
Application Dates and Deadlines
Apply as early as possible and remember that deadlines are important. You may choose any of the options listed; however,
if you are planning to apply for Maryville College Scholarships, you must apply for admission by January 15.
Early Action
If you would like to have an early indication of your admissibility to Maryville, you should consider applying under the Early Action Plan. Applicants are notified of their admission status by November 1, and no commitment to enroll is required. You are not restricted in any way from applying to other schools if you choose to apply under Early Action.
Early Decision
If you have selected Maryville College as your first choice, you should consider the advantages of applying under the Early Decision Plan:
- Early notification of admission decision
- Early commitment of financial aid award
- First consideration for housing assignments
The Early Decision Plan is offered for candidates who have chosen Maryville College as their first choice and are sure that they will attend Maryville if they are accepted for admission and offered adequate financial aid. Early Decision applicants may apply to other colleges and universities as
regular decision applicants; however, they cannot apply to any other college or university as Early Decision applicants.
If you accept the offer of admission to Maryville under the Early Decision plan, you are obligated to enroll at Maryville and must withdraw all other applications for admission. The enrollment deposit is due by January 15.
Music Degree Candidate
If you are applying for one of our music degree programs, you will need to audition with our music faculty in addition to completing our requirements for admission. For information about the music program, auditions, and scholarships, please contact the Department of Music at (865) 981-8150.
