CAMPUS SUMMARY
Bridgewater is a residential, liberal arts college that strives to educate and develop the whole person through an academic framework that focuses on intellect, citizenship, wellness, and character. The College’s mission of graduating leaders who live ethical, healthy, useful, and fulfilling lives is carried out in a vibrant learning community, with Christian values and high standards of integrity and excellence, affirming and challenging each member.

Founded in 1880 as one of the first coeducational colleges in Virginia, Bridgewater is located in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. In addition to scenic beauty, the Shenandoah Valley offers practically unlimited recreational opportunities for college students. The town of Bridgewater offers small town safety and convenience and the college and university town of Harrisonburg, less than ten minutes north of Bridgewater, offers a wide variety of nightlife, shopping, and restaurants. The Shenandoah Valley is bordered by over a million acres of National Forest and National Park land that is available for every kind of outdoor activity. Three major ski resorts are within easy driving distance of Bridgewater and the major metropolitan areas of Washington DC, Richmond, and Roanoke, VA are within a two-hour drive.
