A message from the campus:
Freshmen applicants are evaluated on the basis of their demonstrated academic performance in CPC courses, SAT/ACT test score results, achievement of the University System requirements (a minimum of SAT verbal 430 and math 400 along with 16 CPC units), and potential for completing the requirements for the desired degree.

A program of joint enrollment and early admission is available at Georgia Southwestern State University for high school students who have completed their sophomore year. A student admitted for joint enrollment may begin course study during the junior and/or senior year and during the summer following the junior year. A student admitted for early admission would enroll as a regular beginning freshman, thereby omitting the senior year of high school. Residence hall and dining hall facilities are available during the summer for students who do not live within commuting distance of the university.

Transfer applicants with less than 30 semester hours completed at their previous college or university may be required to submit their high school transcript. Those with 30 or more semester hours completed will be evaluated on the basis of their academic performance and potential for completing the requirements for the desired degree.

Transient applicants (a student who expects to return to their college or university where they are presently enrolled) must present from the registrar of the institution (presently attending) a statement recommending admission as a transient student. Evaluation is based on review of satisfactory previous academic work and potential for completing transient term successfully.

Nontraditional applicants (must have been out of high school at least 5 years and not attended college previously) must submit proof of graduation or any attendance of high school by submitting an official high school transcript and/or submit proof of satisfied completion of the requirements for the General Education Development (GED) Equivalency Certificate by submitting scores and copy of certificate of completion. Evaluation is based on potential for completing the requirements for the desired degree. Further institutional testing is required for nontraditional students and may require placement in learning support courses to sharpen collegiate skills.
International applicants are evaluated on the basis of their demonstrated academic performance. Several submissions are required to properly evaluate academic performance in a foreign country, as well as satisfy immigration requirements.
